An 8,278 square foot shelter on Peter Ballantyne Cree Nations Kistapinan Indian Reserve No. 211 , two miles south of the City of Prince Albert. The shelter will serve Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation members and other vulnerable women and children in the Prince Albert region.

About Our Shelter

The ISKWEW - AWASIS WASKAYKAN Women’s and Children’s Shelter will be a 20 bed,  8 unit full-service emergency shelter dedicated to providing services to women and children from all cultures. The shelter will operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with on-site counsellors available.

The shelter will have amenities such as a cultural room, childcare/play room and common room, as well as a full service kitchen and dining room. Shelter occupants will have access to support services and resources, while both the privacy and confidentiality of occupants and physical safety and security of occupants will be paramount, using First Nations Women Shelter Standards provided by Indigenous Services Canada.
